Motorcycle Surprisingly Readable
This is not a bad effort by Sonny. There are certainly a few silly and downright illogical events described in the book, but you have to admit that when someone like Barger writes a novel about the 1%-er biker world, there is going to be a lot of truth in the story, if simply rearranged into the form of a goofy plot. That is what is excellent about the book - if you keep up with the subject via other non-fiction accounts, you generally know what and who Sonny is alluding to when he describes these fictional events and people.

In fact, when you get right down to it, this work of fiction really IS the way to get the real detail about the biker world because you're not finding yourself calling "BS" all the time like you do when you read other works by Sonny and other insiders. It's a novel. It's fantasy. But some of the detail therein would never be described in those other works because it would either be unbelieveable, or have no place, or probably most important, might have legal consequences.

I would definitely recommend this book as a way to augment the other, supposedly non-fiction, books about the biker world.

Motorcycle Read between the lines . . .
Just finished re-reading my copy of "Dead in 5 Heartbeats." Writing is slightly better than the average Action/Adventure pulp novel, but considerable better than the few pulps I've read in the "Outlaw Biker" sub-genre. But you probably aren't too concerned with fine literature, strong character development, or intricate plotlines if you're looking at a book like this.

Unlike a number of bestselling Adventure/Suspense novels I've read, the action and violence in Sonny's book is realistic and plausable, as are the depictions of drug use. What really suprised me was the number of veiled references to actual incidents and individuals that will be instantly recognizable to anyone familiar with recent headlines and non-fiction books pertaining to the club. The truth has been fictionalized and artistic license taken, but it's interesting to see how Sonny worked these events into his novel, as well as various groups within the club itself, and their interactions with prospective members, other clubs, and law enforcement.

A revealing look inside the mind of a legendary individual considered by many to be the most influential member of the Hells Angels motorcycle club.

Motorcycle Dead In 5 heartbeats
In this, the first book featuring the charater 'Patch Kincade'. Sonny tells a story about the former President of the Infedelz MC and his loyality to the Club that hold his heart. Patch comes back to support his brothers with all the brains and brawn that the president of any association needs to have and hold that title. Sonny did,in my opinion,a great job of writing this character as a man that has heart and passion rolled into one. He can feel love and respect for his family in the daytime and still protect himself and his brothers when the time comes. Sometimes a Man has to realize that some of the people you associate with, will disappoint you. Then you have to deal with it.

Motorcycle Dead in 5 Heartbeats
Excellent book that made me want to read more. I also purchased the second book by this author, it was outstanding as well. Mr. Barger does a great job and the main character is the kind of person we all want to be. I hope he continues to write more of these books. I would highly recommend this title as well as the second book.

Motorcycle Patch Kinkade and James Bond
First let me say that I enjoyed this book and recommend it highly.

That said, this story should be viewed as a work of pure fiction. The main character has more in common with James Bond than he does with any real living person. Therefore if any citizen is looking for a window into the MC world, this book isn't for you. However if you are looking for a good fast paced read, this book is for you.
