Dog Soldiers M.C. Stylistically similar to writings by Brad Meltzer, Peyton Quinn's "Dog Soldiers" is an impressive entry by a first-time novelist who exposes the reader to a side of life that many have us have no knowledge of- motorcycle gangs. The author shares his intimate knowledge of this subculture, revealing a thoughtful lifestyle that is often quite different from that popularized by Hollywood and the mainstream media. The novel is an enjoyable, quick read in the murder-mystery genre.
This book has got soul This book has got soul. The intrigue and action never stops as "Peyton Quinn" tells the story of "Pete Savage" a martial artist, Harley riding, soul searching, semi-Buddhist, action hero with everything to lose and everything to gain. Savage lays it all on the line, all the time. He never lets the throttles return to idle.
Each character is brought to life in this semi-fictional story of one mans journey onto the unknown. The Colorado dust seems to fly off of every page. You can almost feel the punches and kicks as well as hearing the bullets whiz past your ear.
The author tells the story as if it were actually happening to him. It reads more like a biography then a fictional account. Who knows, maybe this guy Peyton has actually "seen the elephant". I see he has written another book entitled "A Bouncer's Guide to Barroom Brawling", so who knows, maybe this dude is "the real deal". You know a real warrior class tough guy.
It will be hard to put down, you will be drawn in by the action and suspense, but surprisingly it also has something more, it's got soul. By offering a glimpse into mans "dark side" as well as casting a beacon of hope for a better life, it asks you to take the journey. It's rare that a book calls out to me the way that this one did. This book dares you to become something more, a monk, a biker or a warrior, you decide.
Action made for The Big Screen. I thought this was a great read. Full of action and insights, to a world most people have no idea exist. I am not your average sit back and read a book person, in fact, I could count on one hand the number of books I have actually bought and read in the last twenty years. This book kept me glued to it from start to finish. Would love to see a movie based on this book.
Dog Soldiers M.C. Peyton Quinn's novel "Dog Soldiers M.C." is fast paced fun and much better then the usual book of this genre.
It has original ideas and well developed charecters that kept me interested through out. There is plenty of action with some solid martial arts sceens I would have expected from this author.
Well worth your time This is a attention grabbing work of fiction. While entertaining to read, Quinn is also taking the reader on a journey into a counter culture spawned in no small part by the Viet Nam war. The book is history, psychology, interpersonal relationships, and suspense combined into a very digestable package.
The story succinctly illustrates the interplay between the group dynamic and the individual. Quinn celebrates conquest and empire, taking up the cause of the socially downtrodden and disillusioned. Concerned with group and interpersonal politics and especially with the connection between ideology and individual liberty, the book lays out a story full of depth.
