The motorcycle was invented in 1869 by Sylvester H. Roper. Roper's motorcycle was steam powered and was not patented. Roper was born in 1823 in Francestown, New Hampshire. He died in 1896 in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Gottlieb Daimler built what some call the first motorcycle in 1885. However, he added side wheels to stabilize it thus making it more like the beginnings of a car rather then a motorcycle.
