Saddlebags originated from the days of horses and were adapted to motorcycles because of the convenient storage they provide. You will usually see a saddlebag in a set of two slung over a motorcycle straddling the rear wheel.
If you ride a sport motorcycle you may not care for the look of a saddlebag. Cruiser motorcycles however can be defined by the style and look of the saddlebags on them.
