Customer comments on this selection.
Better than Fun This is a very suprisingly great CD. There is a great variety of sound, mixing dance with punk themes and that great B-52's sound we all love. It's a shame we have to wait once a decade for a new CD from this band, but it is well worth the wait.
Juliet Of The Spirits, Eyes Wide Open and Deviant Ingredient are my personal favorites from this CD. Check it out!
you gotta be kiddin' me I bought this with great anticipation based on my longtime love of the B-52's, the good advance word and an interview with Keith Strickland that talked about his interest in electronic dance music. I can't tell you how utterly deflated those expectations were upon listening to this disc, even after repeated listenings. I wanted to feel the love but this was just an unoriginal and bland pastiche of beats and harmonies. I would also note the sophomoric lyrics, but of course in previous outings that was a part of the appeal. I think my problem with the lyrics was more related to the non-stop emphasis on the party...going to the freaky zone, getting freaky, partying all night long, and an arm's length of references to doing the dirty. That might have been alright if you were just out of high school but somehow coming from the AARP generation (of which I am now a member also) it just felt a little desperate. With all that said, musically speaking Kate, Cindy (so good to see you back) and Fred could not have sounded better, the energy level felt high and occasionally I could almost feel the rock and roll fighter jet taking off but ultimately it ended up being an overweight B-52 laden with too much baggage.
Welcome back! Great CD, great songs and of course the great
interpretation!
It is excellent that Cindy is back!
One of the best groups ever!
PUMP is the new love shack!
Absolutely the worst album I've ever bought... The music is worn out, the lyrics completely inane (where for art thou, Rock Lobster?) I'd rather listen to a dentist's drill. In fact, I'd rather get a root canal than listen to this again.
Flashback !!! I will keep it simple, short and sweet. These tunes totally took me back to when I first heard the yellow album. This one just has that feel like it's 1979.
